We love it when we see people from our own communities achieving amazing things – and that’s exactly why we’re so proud to be supporting Heather Gordon.
Heather is a 24-year-old rower from Inverness who’s already made her mark on the world stage. In 2024, she made her Team GB debut at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Championships in Italy and brought home a gold medal. Now, her sights are set even higher: representing her country at the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
That kind of ambition doesn’t come without sacrifice. Heather trains for three to four hours every single day, while also working as a personal fitness and wellbeing coach and giving her time to coach at Inverness Rowing Club. And because she’s based in the Highlands, she often has to travel further (and for longer) than her teammates just to reach training camps and competitions – adding time, cost, and pressure.
That’s where we wanted to help. Our £500 sponsorship will support Heather through upcoming high-performance testing, endurance training, and a water camp in Spain – giving her the chance to focus on what really matters: her training and her dream.
Heather told us:
“I really appreciate the support from everyone at M&H. As a full-time athlete, every bit of funding makes a difference – especially living in Inverness, where travel to camps and competitions is such a big part of my routine. This support means I can focus more on my training and less on the financial challenges.”
For us, this is about more than rowing. It’s about believing in local talent, backing determination, and celebrating the people who inspire us. We’ve always been passionate about supporting our communities – from grassroots sports to local initiatives – and Heather’s story is exactly why.
As Fraser, our Managing Director, puts it:
“Heather’s determination and passion are exactly what we admire. She’s shown that talent and hard work can take you anywhere – even from Inverness to the Olympics – and we’re proud to be part of her journey.”
We’ll be cheering Heather on as she trains, competes, and chases her Olympic dream – and we hope you’ll join M&H in wishing her every success on the road to LA 2028.
