It’s been one year since we opened the doors to our Perth depot, and what a year it’s been.
In just twelve months, our Perth team has transformed how we move freight across Scotland, strengthened our connections between the Highlands and the central belt, and expanded our reach into Fife. What started as an ambitious plan to create faster, more reliable routes between north and south has now become the beating heart of our network.
Building a Stronger, Smarter Network
When we opened Perth in 2024, we started small – just one subcontracted trunk run each night. Today, we’re running twelve nightly trunk runs fully in-house, giving us complete control over our overnight operations and allowing us to connect depots faster and more efficiently than ever before.
By bringing trunking in-house, we’ve been able to move freight later in the evenings, connect depots faster overnight, and load vans earlier the next morning – giving our customers the flexibility and reliability they need to grow their businesses.
As our Managing Director, Fraser MacLean, puts it:
“Perth has become the beating heart of our network. Bringing trunking in-house has been a game-changer, allowing us to move freight more efficiently, maintain service levels even at peak, and give businesses across Scotland a logistics network they can depend on.”
Supporting Businesses Across Fife
The opening of our Perth site also enabled us to expand our reach, offering daily deliveries across Fife. This means hundreds of local businesses now have better access to affordable, reliable next-day deliveries, helping them stay competitive and connected with the rest of Scotland and beyond.
Today, our Perth depot runs 16 vans, employs 75 people, and handles more than 10,000 items per week – an incredible achievement that reflects both our team’s hard work and the growing demand for high-quality distribution services across the country.
Our People, Our Pride
Our General Manager of the Perth depot, Thomas Gardiner, has been there since day one – building the operation from the ground up.
“When we opened Perth, we built everything from scratch – routes, schedules, teams. In just a year, we’ve gone from one trunk run to twelve, and the team has worked tirelessly to make it happen. The result is faster, more predictable deliveries for customers, and the capacity to grow even further.”
Now, Thomas is mentoring the next generation of leaders – Kris MacGregor and Callum Cruickshank – through a structured programme designed to prepare them for senior roles. This hands-on development focuses on building confidence and capability, while ensuring a robust leadership pipeline for years to come.
Part of the Perth Community
Since opening, our Perth depot has also become an active part of the local community. We’ve been proud to support events like the Perth Mela Festival and the Perth Veterans Parade, providing vehicles and logistical support to help keep things running smoothly.
Looking Ahead
One year on, Perth has proven its worth as a key part of our delivery network – and we’re excited to see where the next year takes us. Whether it’s expanding capacity or strengthening our network, one thing’s certain: we’ll keep delivering the reliability our customers trust us for.
